Singaporean singer-songwriter Sezairi is back with a romantic new ballad Fool. The ballad marks his third release for 2021, following his involvement in the National Day song, The Road Ahead, back in August.
Fool is about Sezairi’s ongoing journey of reflection as he recalls the intensity of falling in love for the first time, losing it and gathering the strength to let it go. Through this song, he hopes to bring his listeners to a time and place that they remember fondly and remind them of how far they have come since.
Co-written with fellow local artistes Linying and lewloh, and to polish up the lyrics, he collaborated with in-demand New Zealander, Josh Fountain (BENEE, MAALA, Theia), to help produced the track. The song starts with the crackling of an old gramophone and a lo-fi guitar melody that brings you back to the ’60s. The beat then drops the song into a modern sound with heavy beats, clean guitars and a sprinkling of percussive instruments that fully immerses listeners in memories of their first love as Sezairi begins to sing.
Listeners are taken on a romantic trip down memory lane with Sezairi sharing the intimate musings of the experiences of his first love, from the wistful longing and the immense rush of feelings to the vulnerability, uncertainty and grappling with letting things go.
Fans of romantic ballads, you definitely have to listen to his new ballad as I am sure that you will be able to resonate with the lyrics!
