Debuted in August 2023, Kid Phenomenon from Exile Tribe consists of Kensuke Sorematsu, Tsubasa Endo, Kohaku Okao, Soma Kawaguchi, Shunnosuke Sato, Kota Yamamoto and Rui Suzuki. The seven-member group was in Singapore for Music Matters Live 2026 and The Fifth Parlour had the opportunity to meet the group.

The dance and vocal group’s mission is to bring new phenomena to the masses by embodying the Tokyo New Pop. Sorematsu explained that “it is a new generation culture coming out of Tokyo.” He emphasized that it is new culture that they are embodying as they want to show the different side of Tokyo that includes fashion and music. Hence, you are able to hear some of R&B, Hip Hop, Rock and Roll in their music.

One song that best represent the group’s sound will be Party Over There as it embodied the Tokyo New Pop. The song is based on traditional Japanese instrument with added element of Hip Hop. What a combination of the old and new. That is what Kid Phenomenon is all about!

Back in June, Kid Phenomenon released their full-length album, KIDS00’s. The 12 tracks are inspired by 1990s Tokyo pop vibe but with a new touch by the group. Born in the 2000s, the group took inspiration from Hikaru Utada for the album.

2026 has been a busy year for the Kid Phenomenon. They performed at a global stage, SXSW 2026 in Austin, Texas in March and released their album in July. So, what do they hope to achieve next?

The global stage is what they aimed for! They hope to travel to more countries to spread their music and their unique style. And of course, they would like to come back to Singapore to do a full show.

Speaking of their unique style, you can expect the unexpected from the group! If you have yet to notice, they change their hair colour every month. They also love to dress up. With their unique fashion sense, Kid Phenomenon wants to send out the message that “it is okay to be who you are and to be yourself.” What a powerful message especially in this complicated world that we are living in.

The brotherhood in Kid Phenomenon is very strong. When I tried to dig out some secrets or juicy news about the group, they are tied lips about it. They would not even single out anyone. So, if you would like to know more about Kid Phenomenon, do follow them on their social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok and website.

The Fifth Parlour would like to thank Kid Phenomenon for the interview and Bianca from Geezerbuild for coordinating the interview.
