Ever since British-Irish boyband The Wanted went on hiatus in 2014, the members have been busy working on their individual projects. The Fifth Parlour had the opportunity to catch up with Siva Kaneswaran recently.

If you have been following Kaneswaran on social media, I’m sure you have seen him rallying for some causes. He proudly declares that he is an artivist (portmanteau word combining “art” and “activist”) now and it is no wonder that he is using his new released single to share a message.
Last week, Kaneswaran released his new single, Breathe In, which took him three years to produce with the help of Swedish producer Rassmus Bjornson. The single is his first song ever since the hiatus. Breathe In is about how someone constantly desires to be perfect while not being able to op3n themselves up to vulnerability, something I’m sure most of us struggle with and can relate to.
Every individual employs different mechanisms to deal with anxiety and fears. For Kaneswaran, he focused on breathing. “I believe it is the direct path to the soul and deep conscious breathing is one of the most powerful keys to unlocking your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is also a reminder that I am still here,” explained Kaneswaran.
If you think that is the only message he is conveying, wait for his upcoming music video! He shared that he will be showcasing California’s National Parks in his music video, and feels that it is important to highlight the beauty of the forests and how we borrow mother natures’ breath, especially with the forests of the world burning. So stay tuned to his YouTube channel for the video and some vlogs where he will share the story of Breathe In.
So what is next for Kaneswaran?
While an EP is on the cards, you can expect to hear a few more singles from him in the meantime. It is so refreshing and nice to finally hear some music from Kaneswaran and we at The Fifth Parlour, cannot wait to hear more from him! He also shared that he has not seen his family in Singapore for a while and will be coming over soon. Is that a hint to us that he might be doing a mini showcase in Singapore? We can only hope and pray for that. But for now here is a message for his Singapore fans:
Singapore LAA! I miss you all so much and see all your support online.

The Fifth Parlour would like to thank Siva Kaneswaran for the interview and NMG Relations for coordinating the interview.
