Sezairi recently dominated the number 1 spot on Spotify in both Singapore and Malaysia and it’s all thanks to his latest single, It’s You. The Fifth Parlour had the opportunity to catch up with the Sony Music artiste to talk about his latest single as well as exciting things to look forward to in the near future!

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter had previously released the funky and upbeat track, 70’s which he premiered exclusively for his fans at the Hard Rock Café in 2017. The catchy tune even landed him the spot for Asia Spotlight Artist on MTV Asia in September! The cheerful and imaginative Sezairi spilled the beans about his latest work, It’s You!

It’s You, described as being a “cheesy ballad” by Sezairi himself, was written and recorded in Sweden and inspired through an experimentation of ideas. The track is one of the many listings that will be released in the upcoming EP. Sezairi continues to be inspired by music references from the late 90’s to the early 2000’s, some of which include the pop and soulful R&B stylings of Boyz II Men and Michael Jackson.

The simplicity of Sezairi’s personal style of storytelling is evident in his upcoming album. He is constantly building his repertoire, by for example, learning how to master the piano on top of being known for his specialty of singing and playing the guitar. Deeply inspired by the musicality of Asian R&B acts such as Jay Park and Crush, Sezairi confesses to have listened to them numerous times on Soundcloud. The full-time songwriter hopes to infuse flavours of the 90’s as he progresses with his music.

With Hari Raya just around the corner, Sezairi will be hosting guests at his own place for the first time. He shares that his fondest memories of the festivities are to design cards for close friends and relatives. After tying the knot to the love of his life Syaza two years ago, the couple have decided to embark for their honeymoon in Canada and will also attend the DOTA 2 International competition.
