Recently dubbed ‘pop’s up-and-coming heartbreak king’ by Rolling Stone, Lauv is back with his latest offering Chasing Fire. This one is guaranteed to be a party in your ears and will have you singing along to its infectious chorus before you know it.
The latest addition to Lauv’s ever-expanding playlist I Met You When I Was 18., Chasing Fire is a juxtapose to some of the singer-songwriter’s more mellow tracks such as The Other and Paris in the Rain.
“I was driving you home in the middle of the night but I couldn’t bring myself to say goodbye.”
The groovy synths and punch of bass lines in the hook lifts the mood of what Lauv otherwise describes as being one of his more tragic songs. The song is “about fighting for something that’s already over,” reveals the singer-songwriter. “It’s the beginning of the end. It’s desperation. It’s grand. But it’s hopeless.”
This one certainly gets a strong vote of ‘bop!’ from me. Take a listen and tell me it doesn’t make you want to get up from your seat and dance!
