Getting Weird with Little Mix

As the famous adage goes “the show must go on,” and it sure did. Even while Jesy Nelson was MIA for a good part of the concert due to an injury she had sustained, fellow members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall continued to give their all and put on an astounding show for the Mixers here in Singapore.

Before these amazingly talented X-Factor alumni graced the stage at The Star Performing Arts Centre, local quartet The Sam Willows were greeted by loud cheers of support as they performed a set list of songs from their latest album Take Heart, as well as a cover of Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself. Ben talked about how they have been to and performed in so many countries but nothing beats performing to a home crowd. The Sam Willows was the perfect opening act for this show and truly deserved the spotlight!

When the final leg of the Get Weird Tour finally kicked off, Little Mix was visibly missing a member. Jesy had injured her foot at the previous show in Malaysia, and thus, a last minute change to the setlist had to be made.

Nonetheless, the rest of the girlies (as they affectionately call one another) held their own and made sure that the fans were still able to enjoy the show as they gave their 100% on the numbers that Jesy was not able to join them on.

If there is something that really makes Little Mix stand out as impressive performers, it is that they are equally versatile in both singing and dancing. As part of their set list, the girls performed a medley of songs including Jump On It, Crazy In love, Fester Skank, Where Are Ü Now and Ring The Alarm. This segment gave them a vocal break and allowed them to showcase their moves, which by the way, are incredible.

It was a nice moment as the crowd mellowed down whilst the girls performed some of their ballads such as Little Me and Secret Love Song. One thing I really love about Little Mix’s music is the fact that the singing parts are distributed evenly amongst the girls and we get to appreciate each and every single one of their voices.

It was especially admirable to see that Jesy continued to join in, where she could, for some of the songs. Despite the inconvenience, she still shared tons of laughs and giggles with the girls and their dancers. You could tell that the fans truly appreciated her efforts from the loud cheers that erupted through the theatre whenever she was wheeled out on stage. You have to give this girl so much props and here is to wishing her a speedy recovery before the European leg of the tour!

Even though the set list was a condensed version of the initial one they did in the UK, it did not take away from the fact that it was still such an amazing show. Little Mix showed us what they are capable of and so much more!
