Typhoon Haiyan

Typhoon Haiyan has claimed the lives of innocent people.

With the amount of casualties and destruction, it has created an impact to those who are witnessing it on the media. There have been a lot of encouragement on the social media platform recognising the need to help those who are affected by it. Celebrities are no exception. For the past weeks, numerous celebrities have been tweeting, uploading videos to ensure that their fans in The Philippines stay strong and encouraging everyone to donate.

The 90s boyband, A1, urged fans to do their part. Music brings everyone together. Fans from all over the world unite to support the ones they love. Philippines is known for having a large number of fandoms and their support towards the ones they love is remarkable.

There is no use trending the hashtag #PrayforPhillipines when you do nothing about it. As the saying goes, action speaks louder than words. You may not have the cash to donate to the organisations helping the affected victims, but you can do more buy ensuring your closed friends or family members who have their loved ones there to stay strong and give them the support they need.

Now, these people need your help. There are a lot of things you can do to contribute to those in need. Here are some organisations that are raising funds to help those affected by it. This list is compiled by Mohd Azhar Aziz from TODAY.

1) Singapore Red Cross Society

2) Mercy Relief

3) Habitat for Humanity Singapore

4) Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin Foundation

5) Citizens Disaster Response Center (CDRC)

6) World Vision

Some may be skeptical in donating to these organisations fearing that their donation might not be used to good use. Before you donate, do a research on the organisation and check their past records. I believed if you have the heart to help, it does not matter if the amount is small because eventually, it is all based on your intentions.
