National Day 2013
Once again, Selamat Hari Raya to all our Muslim readers and Happy 48th National Day, Singapore!
I hope all of you readers had a great holiday!
The post today will be a little different! As seen from the title, I am sure most of you have came acoss this word ‘OOTD’! Outfit Of The Day, most commonly seen on instagram, outfits posted hash-tagged with #OOTD. Yes, we are going to start a new category, fashion!
Well, before I start, I would like to say that I am no fashionista! But I do like clothes. There is a difference between ‘style’ and ‘fashion’. To me, ‘style’ is making your own statement, dressing according to your own personality. How you want to portray yourself, how you want people to see you. Your body is your palette, and your outfit is a work of art. ‘Fashion’, however, is following what is apparently trending, even though if it does not go with your personality. Regardless if the colour of the season matches you, regardless if it is flattering on you, regardless if it really shouts YOU in that outfit, this dedicated team of fashion followers sometimes just follow fashion ‘blindly’. Style is CREATING, while fashion is FOLLOWING.
In my opinion, high street fashion is really appealing to me and it really looks good on the models! However, if it does not go with my personality or if it is unflattering on me, I will not wear it. Again, I am no fashionista. I like to dress according to what I like, what I think looks nice on me, trying to incorporate fashion into my own style.
Having said that, what about you? What are your views on dressing? Style or fashion for you? Do leave your comments down below, I would love to hear your views! 🙂
It is really nice to see people dressed in red and white on the streets during National Day! Not only it is a nice combination, I think if it is brought out well, it can look really elegant, sexy and fierce at the same time!
Here are some of my favourite red and white outfits:
Everybody knows the famous Hollywood Jenner sisters, Kendall and Kylie. The both of them are two of my favourite teenage style icons. In this photo, I really love Kendall’s choice of a plain white dress, paired with black heels and bright red lipstick, which really stands out and gives the whole look a little sexiness. This is simplicity and minimalistic at its best, don’t you think so? I love a good bright red lipstick! I might say it is one of the makeup staples/must have. A bright red lipstick can really change the look of an outfit, bringing out the feminine, sexy and fierce side of you. Complementing her sister’s lipstick, Kylie wore a red dress with cut-outs at the waist.
Cut-out dresses are one of the hottest look this year, with a sexy-but-subtle look to it. Some cut-out dresses can look very elegant, like this one here:
Taylor Swift at 55th Grammy Awards, Los Angeles, 2013
Mila Kunis at Writers Guild Awards, Los Angeles, 2010
A blazer is a wardrobe staple as well! No matter what you are wearing, put one on and it will change the whole look – a more professional casual-formal outfit. Below is my red and white set that I have pieced together on Polyvore. A red blazer on a white dress, paired with either nude or red heel pumps, accessorized with a neutral colored clutch. L’Eau D’Issey Florale Eau de Toilette by Issey Miyake is the name of the perfume featured in the photo below, one of my favourites! It has a clean and fresh floral scent, just nice and not too overpowering – really feminine and suitable for females. I definitely recommend you to try it the next time you pop by a perfume store!
That is all for the red and white outfits this week! Look out for the next post, I will be sharing with you some of my favourite summer outfits, especially the Coachella inspired ones. *the inner boho girl inside of me gets all excited*
