As covid-19 regretfully takes the world by storm, many jobs are at stake and business owners like our valuable hawkers have been affected. Singaporeans were encouraged to support local businesses such as food hawkers to cushion the blow from the economic downfall.
As an iconic feature of Singapore, I would like to introduce a local hawker stall, Yip Economical Bee Hoon. The food stall is located at Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre. In my opinion, it serves one of the best Chinese delicacies in town. It is considered as one of the cheapest, with a plate of fried Bee Hoon selling at just $2!

Apart from fried Bee Hoon, the stall offers other delicacies such as fried noodles, yam cakes, Chee Cheong Fun, peanut and slicer fish porridge. The cost of a single person’s meal from the stall does not exceed $10! The meal brings back nostalgic memories of the past, as a child whenever I visited my grandmother.

Yip Economical Bee Hoon is one of the favourites to many residents living around that area, including taxi drivers who start their busy day for breakfast as it is affordable and tasty. If you are an early riser, you are in for a treat! They are only open at approximately 5 am. Be there early and join the queue as it tends to get crowded till 10 in the morning.
