Concert Review: Shawn Mendes The Tour 2019

Shawn Mendes returned to Singapore after two years, as part of his ongoing self-titled world tour. This is currently the third world tour that the 21 year old Canadian heartthrob is embarking on. The sold-out concert took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with hundreds of screaming fan girls filling the stadium to catch a glimpse of him during his one night only performance in Singapore.

Mendes started the show promptly at 8 pm with his current hit Lost in Japan which had almost everyone standing on their seats and screaming their lungs away. People who attended the concerts were given wristbands that would light up in different colors during the show and it was indeed a beautiful sight to see. He also sang other hits like There’s Nothing Holding Me Back and Stitches which left fans in a frenzy every time the camera zoomed in on him smiling and strumming his guitar.

To ensure that people at the back of the stadium were able to catch him upclose, Mendes moved on to perform at Stage B which has a massive Rose which lits up together with the wristbands. While performing on that smaller stage, Shawn performed more intimate hits like Ruin, Patience and even did a cover of the late Whitney Houston’s song I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Not gonna lie but it sure did hit me when he sang Ruin as his voice is so raw and pure that you could feel the lyrics of the song.

Mendes did a acoustic snippet whilst playing the piano of his current hit Senorita, his duet with singer Camila Cabello. He got the crowd singing to Treat You Better, Fallin all In You and If I Can’t Have You. Without a doubt, he managed to successfully showcase his undeniable talent and flawless vocals throughout the night while charming his crowd with his killer smiles. The concert lasted for two hours and every minute of it was pure entertainment and fun. Shawn made sure to take time to speak to the crowd and gave a motivational speech on how we, the young people of the world, have the ability to change the world and how we should not take it for granted.

For the grand finale, he started off with a cover of Coldplay’s Fix You while playing the piano before ending the night with his soulful hit In My Blood. Confetti then exploded into the air which had many fans screaming away in tears! There is no doubt that Shawn Mendes is a successful singer who sure has his way with his fans which makes him a young superstar and loved by many because of his friendliness and charming looks!

We can’t wait to have you back in Singapore!
