As we grow up, some of us, had gone through an emo phase in our life. Music in the past had the right lyrics and emotions that provided an outlet for the then angst – ridden teenagers. Bands like My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional and Senses Fail, helped us out through that phase of our lives, and now here we are as adults, reminiscing about our past.
So when I heard about a second edition of EMONIGHTSG, I simply cannot let it pass. Just imagining being in the same room full of people who feels the same way as I do, gives me chills.
Refuge had three levels of fun activities for all emo lovers: First level consisted of a main stage, the second level was where you can request songs from the in- house DJ, and lastly and most novel idea was the rooftop where they had a MySpace background for you to take an emo selfie. Sound like fun times, right?
The event started with a Request your Emo song where you need to tweet and hash tag your song request to the in-house DJ. I was one of the lucky people who got my song picked to be played. I sang along like there was no tomorrow.
The highlight of the night was when Brian from Villes and The Summer State, and Ryan Key’s DJ set. Both setlists were amazing. Songs from the bands we grew up listening to such as Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Green Day and even New Found Glory were being played. High energy set by the performers left us with memories of our emo eras.
What an amazing night of reminiscing the past.
Thank you EMONIGHTSG for reigniting our inner emo. Here’s a former emokid hoping that EMONIGHTSG will be back for a 3rd installment.
The Fifth Parlour would like to thank Secret Signals for the invitation.
