MediaCorp did it again!
Last year, we got The Wanted and this year, they promised for an anticipated nation countdown party of the New Year 2015 to celebrate Singapore’s 50 birthday.
A SOLD OUT countdown party that’s purely because of the Korean Boy Band sensation, BIG BANG, who performed their first concert appearance in 2015. Big Bang performed their top hits; Fantastic baby,Tonight,Haru Haru,Bad boy, Gara Gara Go, Hands Up, Feeling, Lies, Last Farewell and of course GD and Taeyang performed Good Boy.

The Bang of the Night!
Their performance is as usual filled with energy despite the heat. I caught myself smiling and giggling to myself when they start introducing themselves. I believed I’m not the only one feeling this way. It feels like you are in a concert where you can hear fans cheering and singing along to their songs. BIGBANG also shared that they will do a comeback this year with a new album and a tour too. Fingers crossed Singapore is included!
Before Big Bang, the audiences were also treated to local talents with Miguel Antonio showcasing his piano skills, Gentle Bones, The Sam Willows, Kevin Lester – The Lion City Boy who rocks the stage with his rapping styles manage to boost the audience participation and the Retro style band, The Pinholes with their Long Live Rock N Roll.
Fauzie Laily sang Bunyi Gitar from the legendary P Ramlee that reminds me of his early debut on Suria reality singing competition, Anugerah.
Other than Fauzie Laily, the 8 dukes of Caldecott Hills comprising of Aloysius Pang, Desmond Tan, Jeffrey Xu, Ian Fang, Romeo Tan, Xu Bin, Zhang Zhen Huan, and Shane caught my eye. They charmed the audience with hits from the 90s. I was personally mesmerized by them as they sang medley from my childhood era. Dick Lee and Kit Chan touches our heart with the ever close to our soul, National day Song HOME.The famous Mandarin pop artiste Stephanie Sun was a lookout too for her performance.
Comedians Chua EnLai, Alaric Tay, and Suhaimi Yusof from The Noose never fails to make us laugh with their comedic antics.
At the stroke of midnight, a breath-taking eight-minute fireworks display lights up the Marina Bay area to welcome 2015. Malaysia’s Superstar, Dato Siti Nurhaliza took off the stage again with her rendition of Beyonce’s Love on Top. Dato Siti Nurhaliza wishes Singapore to be bless with continuous support and harmony. It was her second time celebrating New Year with MediaCorp.
While ushering the New Year, there are still who is suffering near us. In conjunction with the recent flood disaster in Malaysia, MediaCorp donated $100 000 from the Countdown tickets sales to relief aid for the disaster.
Thank You MediaCorp for bringing hottest Korean Boy band Big Bang to kick start the concert hype in 2015 and hope this unite the nation as we move on to Singapore’s 50th this year. We would like to thank Jean Danker for mentioning The Fifth Parlour on stage as to get everyone to hashtag #CELEBRATESG50 on their social media as when they tagged the event.
