As Christmas draws closer and we get ourselves busy preparing for gifts exchange and decorating the house, why not take a short breather and pamper yourself with a cup of hot chocolate and great music this festive season? Here is a mixture of the classics all-time favourite tracks as well as covers and remakes of Christmas songs!
1. All I Want for Christmas is You – Mariah Carey
Released by Columbia Records on 1st November 1994, “All I want for Christmas is You” is no doubt still everyone’s favourite Christmas track even after 19 years. Making it’s annual “come-back” on the charts every December, Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You” definitely brings one closer to the festive season.
2. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Kelly Clarkson
The first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson first Christmas-themed album “Wrapped in Red” was released earlier this year in October and one of my favourite tracks is her remake of Judy Garland’s 1944 “Have yourself a Merry Christmas”. Delicate vocals accompanied with a simple string agreement yet very rich, it makes one anticipate a dreamy Christmas.
3. Jingle Bell Rock –Kurt, Max & Macy!
The perfect song to get you excited for Christmas. Originally released by Bobby Helms in 1958, the song has been covered by many renowned artists. This however has got to be my favourite cover! The trio sure did justice to the song.
4. Let it Snow! – HitStreak Cast
‘Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!’ The cast of HitStreak sings 1945 Vaughn Monroe’s track and wishes you a Merry Christmas! Amazing! It brings you straight into the festive season mood!
5. Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Andrea Bocelli
Andrea Bocelli is an inspiring Italian tenor and singer song-writer and hailed as “one of the best singers in the world”. He became completely blind after a football incident. His voice captivates the hearts of many and “Santa Claus is Coming to town” is one of the tracks in his thirteenth studio album “MY CHRISTMAS”.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone! 🙂
