Hi guys, it’s Kay, aka 26nails (which explains the watermark) 🙂
Mother’s day is coming up and maybe you are caught up with work and is unable to bring your mom and yourself to a nearby salon to paint your nails! Now, I’m here to share with you a really simple nail art design you can easily do at home for yourself and your mom for this upcoming Mother’s Day.
Here’s a broad overview:
So to start things off, these are the tools and polishes you need:
A base coat is definitely necessary. It helps to minimize staining of nails, and helps the polish adhere better to the nail. Here I am using Poshe’s Fast Drying Top Coat. I’m also using my holy grail top coat- Seche Vite’s Dry Fast Top Coat. It’s a great product to use, it gives your nails the perfect shine and gives a gel-effect.
You can choose any two colours which you think will go well together! I chose more girly colours for Mother’s Day to add a feminine touch. You also need some sponges, which I recommend you use a dish-washing sponge. You can just cut them into smaller pieces for easy usage. For this tutorial, I decided to use an eyebrow sponge instead because it’s easier for me to photograph! I got them at only 2 dollars at Daiso, and there were 10-20 over in a pack, which you can discard after use.
So to start off, paint two coats of each colour on your nail. You can use the same colour for all 5 fingers if you like!
Then, using the other colour, dab some onto your sponge.
Gently dab the sponge on the tips of your nails to create the ‘cloud’ look.
It does not have to be neat at all, a little mess makes it nice! Continue with the next colour.
Voila! I suggest you dab a little at the top, and dab more polish near the end of the nail so there’s a bit of a gradient-ish effect.
Here’s the final look in natural sunlight! You may choose to add some glitter.
If you have a nail art pen, you can also add some simple lines and shapes.
This nail art tutorial was done using simple tools and techniques so that you can try this on your own and also for your mom! 🙂
I hope you will have an enjoyable weekend and see you guys soon!
