Food Review: Parlour By Ashley Isham (Mother’s Day Special)

Hello all! This is my very first post in thefifthparlour and I hope you guys have been liking and following what we have been updating so far!

Last weekend, the four of us (Atiqah, Fiza, Joey and myself) visited Parlour By Ashley Isham to finally catch up on what we had been missing out in each other lives! I am sure my Muslim friends will know how hard it is to find a Halal cafe in Singapore. Well, fret not! You can now visit Parlour By Ashley Isham to get your cake fix!

If you don’t know, Ashley Isham is one of few Singapore designers who has made it big to the runway. Yup, I am really jealous of him!  And for the boutique in OC, he incorporated the concept of shopping + chilling together so if you’re bored of chilling around, just head down to the racks and start shopping!

The place was relatively quiet on Saturday afternoon so it is the perfect place for you to take a break if you’re tired of the crowd in town.  Besides, the parlour was furnished with lots of English furniture, mirrors and art pieces so it was really atas and pretty!

All the available cakes are all completely outsourced and this includes names such as ‘HumbleBeginningMilleCrepe‘ (based in Malaysia apparently!), Daleydosebakery and Fathi’s Cakes.

We decided to go ahead with the 5 Days MC Cupcake, Snick Attack Cupcake, Swiss Chocolate Velvet Mille Crepe, Peanut Butter Blueberry Blizzard Mille Crepe and Oreo Mille Crepe. Besides cakes, there are also coffee/tea/cocktails/juices for you to go along with the sweet treats. I had the Iced Mocha and it tasted like usual coffee mix you get in supermarkets so it was nothing to rave about.

The cupcakes were decent and my favourite was the 5 Days MC. The generous serving of dark chocolate ganache balanced out the sweetness + saltiness of the salted caramel in the cupcake. While Atiqah, Joey and Fiza enjoyed the Snick Attack Cupcake because of the snickers -_-

The mille crepe was definitely the ‘Star’ of the cafe. I personally feel that it tasted much better than the one sold at Everything With Fries and the super smooth velvety texture makes every bite such an enjoyable one!! If you’re a fan of peanut butter, you have to order the Peanut Butter Blueberry Blizzard. The super rich and thick peanut butter taste is really awesome!

Total damage was about $14 including drinks. For that price, I would rather visit a commercialized coffee chains (Think TCC/Coffee Club etc.) since I would be enjoying authentic coffee and much nicer cakes. However, if you are looking for a Halal cafe as well as a quiet place to just relax, this is definitely the right place to go!

Since this weekend is Mother’s Day, why not beat the crowd and bring your mommies down for some yummy mille crepe? 🙂

PS: Sorry for the terrible pictures! The idea of ThefifthParlour was totally random/quick so I didn’t know that I would be doing this food review! I promise to take better pictures next time! 🙂

  1. Loved the post, though the cost would have made me cringe as well. At least it was a good experience and had atmosphere! Looking forward to reading more 🙂
