Growing up surrounded by music, True was inspired by her dad as she witnessed him play, sing and record his own songs. True’s musical journey started at the tender age of three and a half years old after her father discovered that she is able to follow the tempo and rhythm of a song by banging one of the guitars. Realizing that she has the talent, her father included her in his singing sessions. “He would sing a few bars and then invite me to follow by singing along making up my own words,” shared True on her singing session with her father.

Since then, her parents invested in her by starting her on vocal coaching when she was four-years-old. The family now jam together in their personal purpose-built recording studio which her dad built as an extension to their home. In that studio is where the father-daughter duo, wrote The Unseen.

It took the duo a few months to bring The Unseen to life. With this song, they hope to bring a voice the victims of humanitarian crisis so that they can be heard. “The Unseen was written especially as a wake-up call. We wanted the message to not be only understood but also felt. We hoped that the music and lyrics would cut through to the heart of listeners,” explained True on the inspiration behind this song. With such a great message, it is no surprise that the song has been adopted for different initiatives such as Freedom PomPom, HeArts on a Mission and other movements.

Honoured that her song has been adopted by multiple humanitarian groups, True believes that everyone has a part to play to make a difference. As an artist, she wants to create music for those who are unseen, unheard and misunderstood. Real emotions and stories are what she hopes to include in her music so that when someone is listening to her, they will not feel alone.

That is the direction she is moving towards as she works on her first album. Listeners can expect emotions and stories from a teenager. She will explore themes surrounding growing up and unexplainable feelings as they are in the process of discovering the world. For now, let’s enjoy one of the songs, Before I Knew the Word, that has been released and will be included in the album’s track list.
