Loong Dim Sum: Authentic Dim Sums With a Twist

My Instagram story has been showcasing a lot of Chinese delicacies especially since we just welcomed the year of the snake. Recently, a new eatery that serves dim sum opened at North Canal Road.

Located just a few minutes away from Raffles MRT, the Muslim-owned eatery offers affordable fare starting from $4.80. I made an online reservation at 11 a.m., and upon arrival, I was told that the table was reserved until 12.30 p.m.

The eatery is cosy with two floors. You will be able to hear the next table’s conversation very clearly. The lady beside me was complaining about her manager and I wished I could give her a hi-5 since I know what she was going through. Sorry for digressing, let’s get back to what I ordered.

Loong’s Salted Egg Pao ($7.80) was served first. I am a fan of salted egg so I had high expectations and thankfully, it was good! The soft Pao and salted egg custard makes you want to have more.

Then came the Loong’s Signature Juicy Pao ($8.80). After watching celebrities sharing about it, I was really looking forward to it. We were given a straw. Since my mum and I wanted to try a few dishes, we decided to just share one. As it is recommended to eat it while it is hot, do not get too excited when sucking the soup, sip bit by bit. Personally, I think this is not for sharing as you will want it all for yourself.

The Crispy Salmon Skin with Salted Egg ($9.80) and Cereal Deep-fried Eggplant ($9.80) were really addictive. The salmon skin reminds me of the Irvin’s Salted Egg.

The meal ended with Mint Sauce Crispy Tiger Prawn Rolls ($7.20). This was not a planned order as I wanted to try the Flaky Pastry with BBQ Chicken but it was sold out. Blessing in disguise as this was such a pleasant surprise. I love how the mint sauce blends well with the prawn which added an extra punch to the dish.

For dessert, I ordered a set of The Bom ($6.80). It is basically fried rice ball filled with peanuts. It reminded me of Mr Bean’s Rice Ball.

Overall, I enjoyed my time there despite the cosy space. Good customer service and friendly staff. I hope that they will keep this up, I am definitely planning to come back again. Now, I can satisfy my cravings at Loong Dim Sum instead of heading to Johor Bahru.
