Jung Jihoon and Kim Haneul spark fly between the protector and the protected in the action-packed melodrama, Red Swan coming this July on the global platform, Disney+!

The Scandal of the Hwain Group (Korean title) or Red Swan tells the story of Oh Wansoo (Kim Haneul) a former world-class golfer who is married into the powerful Hwain Group and finds herself targeted by death threats. She crosses paths with Seo Doyoon (Jung Jihoon), a bodyguard as he is investigating a friend’s death that is tied to the Hwain Group. Together, they unravel Hwain Group’s secrets tainted with desire. 

The drama boasts extravagant cinematography from majestic chandeliers in lush houses to the mysterious underbelly of the riches. Jihoon’s rugged persona as an ex-police officer turned charming bodyguard will keep you asking for more! He is fully immersed in the fighting sequences; on the ship or in the back alleys. He performed them realistically to “fill the void and perfection”, said Jihoon.

On the other hand, if it was dangerous and complex, Jihoon’s stun double stands added director Park Hong Kyun during the press meeting. He had discussed with Jihoon about his character while praising him for his demeanour emotions and body language throughout the series as he does not have many lines as a personal bodyguard to Haneul’s character.

Haneul accepted the main role from director Park as she was intrigued by the script, reminiscing about the film, The Bodyguard (1992) which she enjoyed watching while growing up. The only difference in this melodrama is that she has to also battle internal conflict within the Hwain Group; mainly her husband (Jung Gyuwoon) and the Chairwoman (Seo Yisook) while helming the foundation.

I personally enjoyed the chemistry between the two unlikely characters. Jung Jihoon reminds me of the late Bruce Lee’s commitment to filmography through his realistic portrayal of martial arts in films. I can’t wait for the following episodes coming next week.
