Matilda The Musical was Enjoyably Witty and R-E-V-O-L-T-I-N-G!

Time Out calls it “Smart, Quirky and Sublimely Good Fun” and I totally agree with that! Matilda The Musical pushes all the boundaries with its wits and action-packed sequences on the big stage. It was a whimsical experience you wouldn’t want to miss this school holiday with the young ones!

Base Entertainment Asia and GWB Entertainment in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company are delighted to announce that the multi-award-winning production of Matilda The Musical as the show returns to the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands. The musical has won over 101 international awards including 24 for Best Musical across various productions.

Matilda The Musical is a tonic for audiences of all ages, as this anarchic production is about a strong and determined heroine, Matilda who has a vivid imagination. A timeless tale of resilience, and intellect with the boundless power of imagination, a little naughty.

To relive the revolting moments from Matilda The Musical, I had to watch the film on Netflix. It is one of the two Roald Dahl classics that I enjoyed as a child apart from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I didn’t feel like a grown up (pun intended) as I enjoyed similar tunes from the musical.

Furthermore, I was thrilled to be able to catch the live-action magic unfolding as characters such as Miss Honey, Matilda and the infamous Miss Trunchbull got the story alive through realistic portrayal of scenes which I thought was remarkable and impressive through the use of modern technology, lighting effects and visuals supported by a live musical ensemble with a brilliant symphonic conductor off stage.

If I could sum up the musical in two words, it would be witty and imaginative! The playful “revolting” class of students were a treat to the eyes as they danced and sang in great harmony. The scene that caught my attention was Miss Trunchbull’s war on pigtails and the clever use of lights and sounds to portray distance and gravity.
