Spy x Family Code: White – Family Vacation Gone Awry

The Fifth Parlour was at the Singapore premiere of Spy x Family Code: White. During the premiere, fans dressed up to the nines imitating the main characters. Manga fans and those who have been avidly following the series on Netflix and Disney+ would be happy to know this is the first ever movie for the Spy x Family franchise.

Spy x Family Code: White is a 2023 Japanese animated spy action comedy film directed by Takashi Katagiri from a screenplay by Ichirō Okouchi. It was released in Japan in 2023. Hence, the premiere was met with such fanfare when we attended the session.

This movie brings us on the Forger’s vacation to hunt for the perfect dessert recipe for their adopted daughter, Anya, who wanted to impress her principal and earned herself a Stella Star.

The Forgers is a family formed due to Loid Forger’s (voiced by Takuya Eguchi) stint in Operation Strix. He adopted Anya (voiced by Atsumi Tenezaki) from an orphanage and roped in Yor (voiced by Saori Hayami) to be Anya’s mother and his pretend wife. Anya has a special gift not known to anyone. She is a telepath who is able to read minds even the mind of her dog, Bond! One of the funniest things is that Loid and Yor do not know each other actual jobs; Loid is a secret agent while Yor is a highly trained and skilled assassin.

With a hidden identity of both Loid and Yor, will there be problems along the way? At the same time, with the appearance of Loid’s long-term agent friend, Yor started to doubt herself whether she is able to stay as Loid’s pretend wife and Anya’s foster mother for long or will she be replaced?

Without spoiling the movie, Spy x Family Code: White made me gasp, excited and laugh due to its heartwarming and hilarious moments. Please watch to find out if Anya did get to impress her principal after all if Loid manages to stay in Operation Strix, and if Yor remains as Loid’s pretend wife.

Thank you Encore Films for the invite!
