With a total of 46 awards the ‘live’ show was held on 2nd December at the Suntec Convention Centre in front of a packed hall. The Asian Television Awards (ATA) ceremony was filled with an incredible line-up of artists such as Charli XCX, JJ Lin, Amber J. Liu, Julie Tan, Christopher Lee and an array of artistes, producers and directors from all over Asia coming to Singapore to grace the event.
As expected, the popular Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun won Best Drama Series. In addition, South Korea also won Best Entertainment (One-Off/Annual) with MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards).
Taiwanese drama series, A Touch of Green was the biggest winner of the night as they won five awards which included the extremely competitive award, Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Chen Kun-Chang and Carla Dunareanu who were touted as dark horses, won the Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress for both their individual role beating crowd favourites Christopher Lee and Vernetta Lopez.
The award ceremony continued with a stunning performance kicked off by Charli XCX, who performed Boom Clap and After the After party. Filipino powerhouse vocalist Ivy Grace Paredes was next and covered Sia’s hit song Chandelier and Indonesia’s sweetheart, Dato’ Rossa performed Jangan Hilangkan Dia and people’s most voted Ku Menunggu.
As the ceremony came to a close, Korean pop singer from girl group f(x), Amber J.Liu performed her solo songs, Shake That Brass and Borders, earning thunderous cheers and applause from the audience. Last but not least, local favourite, JJ Lin, closed the show with 可惜沒如果 and 不为谁而做的歌. The ceremony ended with a beautiful note and outstanding performance.
