The Fifth Parlour was at Marina Bay Floating Platform to usher in 2016 at Celebrate 2016. The lineup was just spectacular as we ushered in 2016 with our local talents like Inch Chua, Gareth Fernandez & The Momma Shop, THELIONCITYBOY, finalists from The Dance Floor and The Final 1 (Season 2) with Odelle Sabrin and Isaac Ong.
Together with the audience at the Floating Platform, we were able to enjoy pre-show performances by Sisay, a native Ecuadorian ensemble, who performed traditional and contemporary Andean music. As the rain continued to pour, the mood of enjoying great music was not dampened even the slightest.
Inch Chua who brought her latest album Letters to Ubin on stage with singles like Simple Kind of Life, inspired from her four month stay at Pulau Ubin.
Closing to 11pm, our very first Singapore Idol, Taufik Batisah took the stage with Can’t Feel My Face as the countdown extravaganza was telecasted on Channel 5 too.
The party continued with MediaCorp hunks Shane Pow, Alfred Sim, Desmond Ng, Ian Fang and Jeffrey Xu dressed in suits and ties with Style and Perfect charming the ladies around, a combined dance performance from the finalists of The Dance Floor, the dashing Gareth Fernandez & The Momma Shop with Uptown Funk and not forgetting the cast of Tanglin joining on stage with a Male VS Female dance battle.
As we got closer to the end of 2015, Adam Lambert rocked the stage with hit singles like Whataya Want from Me which propelled him to greater fame after American Idol and his latest releases Ghost Town, Evil In The Night, Trespassing and Another Lonely Night from The Original High album. His powerful vocals got the audience on the edge of their seats screaming at every high note he reached. The live performance was just amazing as everyone immersed in the heated atmosphere, ready for the final countdown.
3, 2, 1 and Boom! as the fireworks went shot up into the sky before us, igniting into bright colours amidst the dark background and some even bursting into shapes of hearts as couples yearned to selfie with. Watching the fireworks right at the floating platform was definitely the best way to welcome with new year!
While the telecasted countdown party may have come to the end, the crowd at the venue was treated to a huge surprise. Back to join the crowd, Adam Lambert took over the stage with more hits from his The Original High album released this year with same titled The Original High, Rumours, Underground and The Light. I may not be an avid Adam Lambert but I sure am now, with his impressive live versions of these great hits stuck in my head. How fabulous can the countdown party be without Adam Lambert’s company! His performance ended at about 1am but the party did not stop there as DJ Tinc treating the remaining crowd a whole load of music sensations.
While the celebration may have ended, it only marks the beginning of a brand new year ahead.
