Are you a fan of fried chicken?
You can find fried chicken at fast food restaurants, street market and of course, at the comfort of your home. There are increasing numbers of fast food outlets branching out overseas selling their secret recipe fried chickens. Fried chickens are actually easy to fry. Usually, the ‘secret recipe’ lies in the types of seasoning and batter used. Also, the heat to fry the chicken is important too.
Let me share with you my classic home-style fried chicken flour batter. You can also use this batter to fry squids.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg Chicken Wings
- Few cloves Garlic & Ginger (Blend with a little water).
Both is essential as it eliminates the unwanted smells of chicken. I will always make a point to add these when frying chicken even though I used the ready made flour.
- ½ Cup Wheat flour
- ½ Cup Rice flour
- ½ Cup Tapioca flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Salt
Step 1: Place the clean chicken in a bowl.
Step 2: Pour the blended garlic and ginger, egg, wheat flour, rice flour, tapioca flour and baking powder into the bowl.
Step 3: Add turmeric powder and salt.
Step 4: Mix everything together. You might want to add water if the flour mixture is too dry.
Step 5: Fry the chicken until it is golden brown.
So, if you are lazy to go to the nearest fast food outlets to get your favourite fried chicken, you can now fry it yourself!
