Places To Visit In New York City

I went for a two weeks vacation to New York City last year so I thought I’d share some places of interest and what’s nice over there in NYC for any of you readers who are planning to make a trip there. I visited NYC during the winter season and it was freezing especially in the city area at night with all the buildings surrounding you! So now, I’m gonna share some places of interest in NYC which I visited when I was there.

1) Central Park

Located at 14 E 60th St, NYC, New York 10022, United States, Central Park is a public park at the center of Manhanttan in New York City. I’d recommend you to go ice skating at the Wollman Rink. Although it is busy and extremely cold during the winter season, the rink has a very urban view of the Manhattan building and it is a pretty fun activity for families to do together.

2) Empire State Building

Located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street, the Empire State Building is a 102 storey skyscraper which is a MUST GO for all tourists! When you are at the Empire State Building, you need to buy tickets to go up to the observation deck to have a look at the breath-taking view of New York City. The observatory is open from 8AM – 2AM daily.

Ticket Prices for the observation deck:

(Main Deck)

Adult $27
Senior (62+) $24
Child (6-12) $21

(Main Deck & Top Deck)

Main Deck + Top Deck

86th and 102nd Floor

Adult $44
Senior (62+) $41
Child (6-12) $38

3) Rockefeller Center

Located at Midtown Manhattan, New York, the rockefeller center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings between the 48th and 51st streets in New York City.

During winter, make sure you take a twirl on the most famous ice rink in the city, I feel that this is the most essential holiday experience when in NYC, do go there early to avoid the long queues. Directly beside the ice rink, there stands the biggest christmas tree you’ll probably ever see (make sure you’ve got your cameras ready to capture those kodak moments).

You can also make your way up to the Top of the rock Observation Desk to experience breathtaking views of the NYC skyline. Don’t forget to visit the LEGO store and check out the LEGO version of the Rockefeller Center made completely from LEGO bricks.

4) Statue Of Liberty

When visiting the famous statue of liberty, make sure you join one of those ferry cruise tours that brings you around the statue so that you can get good photos of it. Just a gentle reminder when you are visiting during winter, please do cover yourself up in warm clothing as it is freezing cold on the boat and do have your mufflers and gloves ready!

5) Times Square

Times Square is a major commercial intersection and a neighbourhood in Mid-town Manhattan, New York City at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. My favourite thing to do in Times Square is SHOPPING!!!! There is so many big retail outlets in Times Square where you can just shop till you drop, my favourite hangout place when I was there was FOREVER 21!! That F21 outlet has to be the biggest outlet I’ve ever been to.

The biggest highlight when you’re at Times Square is to make sure you’re in New York during the Christmas/New Years Eve week. You have to join the New Years Eve countdown at Times Square, the experience will definitely be once in a lifetime. But make sure you’re prepared to have to queue for hours, glued with people and withstand the crazy crowd and loud screams especially during the winter season.
