Our very first Singapore Idol, Taufik Batisah, successfully celebrated his 20^th anniversary in the entertainment industry by organizing his very own concert. Titled One Last Dance, the sold out concert attracted 5,000 fans and I was one of the lucky ones to witness it!

Honestly, I thought it was the last time we will be ever see him perform. But I was so glad when I saw promotional videos that he will perform at the countdown show on Mediacorp, Let’s Celebrate 2026. The Fifth Parlour had the opportunity to meet Taufik during one of the rehearsals. The first question that was directed at him was “Will he be stepping back from the entertainment industry to focus more on his businesses?”

Taufik expressed his gratefulness and appreciation to his fans for their support for his sold-out show. He added that moving forward, the main focus will be on his businesses, Chix Hot Chicken, real estate Batisah Realtors and interior design, Ivory Cove. Despite that, Taufik will not forget his love for performing. He wants to support budding performers and would be more than happy to make special appearances if it helps the craft and the community. “To anyone starting out, find the fun. That joy will thrive and drive you through when times get hard, because the entertainment industry is tough,” advised Taufik to budding artistes making a name for themselves.

For 2026, besides focusing on his business, Taufik wants to spend more quality time with his loved ones. This is evident is his sharing on Instagram as he makes effort to spend time with them.

He also has big plans for CHIX Hot Chicken at 64 Prinsep Street, his second outlet which was opened early last year. I wonder, if Taufik Batisah was a dish at CHIX Hot Chicken, what dish best represents him?

“I would be the Soul Slider, heat level atomic! It’s crispy, soulful and super spicy. You’re gonna enjoy it and then you’re gonna regret it,” joked Taufik. Such an accurate description which really reflects him as a performer as well! Soulful, crisp voice and bring in the heat with his moves!
