If you are a film buff or need a break from the hustle and bustle, look no further. The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is back for its 36th edition from 26 November to 7 December 2025.

SGIFF 2025 is part of the Singapore Media Festival 2025 hosted by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The annual affair has been a cultural anchor for the nation and the region, amplifying bold voices and fostering new talent. The 36th edition is both a celebration and a call to action: that stories must continue to be told, that communities must continue to gather and that art must continue to thrive, even in uncertain times.
Be entertained by the diverse storytelling with more than 30 feature and short films by Singaporean filmmakers and co-productions including Cendol by Qi Yuwu which have made headlines.
SGIFF 2025 has doubled its local short film selection, showcasing a total of 28 works across the Southeast Asian Short Film Competition and Singapore Panorama, a section dedicated to presenting the latest Singaporean feature and short films that speak to evolving societal concerns.
Here are three reasons why you should be part of SGIFF 2025:
- Over 120 films from 45 Countries will be screened
Be spoiled for choices with over 120 films in this year’s lineup. With the festival running for a limited number of days, it is the perfect excuse to leave the office a little early and make plans with your friends and loved ones.
With cinemas conveniently located across town, catching a film is easy. Screenings will be available at Golden Village locations including Bugis+ Cineleisure, Suntec City, VivoCity—as well as Marina Bay Sands (Sands Theatre), National Gallery Singapore (Gallery Theatre), Oldham Theatre and more.
2. Appreciate films better through forums

Get to know more about the films through a series of panels and exclusive dialogue sessions during the festival. These sessions provide a platform for filmmakers and industry visionaries to engage in dynamic discussions and exchange bold new ideas. You are invited to join the conversation with leading voices from Asia and beyond. You could even find yourself in the same room as Shu Qi, Tony Leung, Chin Han, Deepa Mehta, Youn Yuh-jung, and more.
3. Vote for your favourite local films
Have your say in this year’s Audience Choice Award! The film with the most votes will return for an encore screening on 13 December 2025. Discover the eligible films on the SGIFF website here.
Let’s restart the film-going culture in Singapore through SGIFF 2025 award-winning films and events. To top it off, some film screenings are eligible for the SG Culture Pass. For more information visit their official site and get your tickets on SISTIC.
