“Follow the light and you will find the answers you seek.” This thought came to my mind when we had a sneak peek into the latest thriller, Light Shop at The Walt Disney Company APAC Content Showcase 2024.

Light Shop follows a group of six strangers, each struggling to come to terms with a traumatic event in their past. Going about their daily lives, each individual is mysteriously drawn to a light shop that sits at the end of a dark mysterious alleyway. Guarded by a vigilant shopkeeper, the light shop hold the key to the strangers’ past, present and future.

At the press conference, Writer Kangfull and Director Kim Heewon together with main casts Ju Jihoon and Park Boyoung, shared their personal experiences during the filming of the eight-part drama series.

“Creating a divergent for Disney+ was a challenge, just like any other webtoon-inspired drama. The main focus for this project was the characters, making them the essence and centre of attention,” revealed Kangfull on his challenges in writing for the drama series.

This drama marks the directorial debut for Kim. The role shift from actor to director has given him the simplicity to communicate effortlessly with Ju and Park. Even though they never met on set, he ensured there was chemistry between them and the other characters.

Get ready to witness the great cinematography especially during the rainy night scenes or for some, you might be traumatized by its eerie vibe. Things may get intense and morbid for some viewers as the story progresses despite the cheerful lighted shop. You can spot the similarities to the original webtoon in English here!
