The lives of a passionate crime-fighting detective, career-hungry criminal prosecutor, missing club employee and a broker all intertwines in a Korean thriller, Gangnam B-Side.

In Gangnam’s underbelly, there is a notorious series of disappearances. Detective Kang Dong Woo was demoted after busting a drug case involving corrupt officers. Yoon Gil Ho becomes a suspect, while Prosecutor Min Seo Jin seeks the opportunity to climb up the judicial system.

The first two episodes kept me thrilled about what came next. Veteran actor Jo Woojin takes the lead role as a detective. He went on to gain some weight and muscle for the rugged police look. This was a different look from his similar role in Narco-Saints (2022), portraying an undercover agent in a notorious gang.

Apart from the fast-paced action sequences, keep your attention on the dynamics between the four main characters. The crime drama stars Jo Woojin, Ji Changwook, Ha Younkyoung and Kim Hyoungseo.

“It is not like any other crime drama out there”, said Director Park Noori as she promised to blow viewers’ minds as the dark side of Gangnam is slowly uncovered.
