We were intrigued when we got to know this is Singapore’s first ever underground horror experience.

Set in the historic Battlebox, Singapore’s former Far East Command Centre, the underground bunker spanning 12,000 square feet beneath Fort Canning. Underground: The Summoning is the first and only experiential horror event to be fully hosted underground. A limited-time event running on selected nights from 25 September to 3 November 2024, the adventure promises a gripping narrative of soldiers beset by evil forces, brought to life through live theatrical performances and special effects. The interactive 45-minute experience takes guests in small groups of eight to nine people through a labyrinth of terror, where audience members will be challenged to defeat Bellum, the main villain, by collecting eight magical cards along the way.

Right before we enter, we can feel the excitement building up. We were grouped randomly into an eight person group. As we entered into the dark bunker, we began the experience being led into the first room which is where we receive our mission for this whole experience. We are on a mission to find the eight cards that will help to defeat Bellum.

I personally felt that there could have been better signages or indication from the actors as to what should be done in each room. However, this does not mean that the whole experience was not an exciting one.

Without spoiling anything, as we move further into the rooms, there were various parts where the whole mission was interactive and we got to interact with the scare actors. Have to commend them for the truly convincing make-up! Found myself gasping a few times as I was truly shocked.

There were parts where our group got so caught up trying to find the card that the scare actors, (in their character of course) repeatedly told us to leave. We collectively found that hilarious as we only later found out that the room had no card and moved onto the next.

I appreciate the fact that this was set in a real bunker and there is real history to the place. It felt extra eerie when it got completely pitch black and just added to the experience. Please look out for the intriguing ending to your whole experience. That was my absolute favourite part!

Overall, I gave this experience a 7 out of 10. It was slated to be about 45 minutes, but even with all our delays trying to find the cards, moving slowly as it was really dark, and spending time looking at the artefacts, our group finished the whole thing in less than 30 minutes.
