As we are celebrating our nation’s birthday this August, let’s shine the spotlight on our local talents. Meet Hazwady Nazran, singer-songwriter and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis survivor. The disease attacks the immune system.

In an interview with Berita Harian’s podcast No Tapis, Hazwady shared about his battle with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis survivor and how it has sparked back his interest in music. Dabbled in music during his primary school days, Hazwady did not pursue it as this career has the connotation that it has no future. However, when his health took a turn, he decided to revisit his love for music with the love and support of his wife. During one of his hospital stays, he even managed to write five songs!
Tomorrow is one of the songs that he wrote during his hospital admission. This song was inspired by his experiences during the difficult period and his hope for a better tomorrow. Hope is something that we can hold on to during the challenging period and it keeps us going. Something that we all can relate to.
With this hope, Hazwady hopes to raise awareness about anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, a disease that only affects one in a million people and share his musical journey! Keep updated with Hazwady on his Facebook Page and Instagram.
