A brutal succession battle threatened the stability of the Empire in Mongolia as the great Khan struggles to maintain his supremacy. A gist of what to expect from West End’s first Mongolian production, The Mongol Khan!

Based on historical events in Central Asia 3000 years ago, the epic Mongolian theatrical production, The Mongol Khan, had a sell-out season at The London Coliseum in 2023. It will make its Asia Premiere at the Sands Theatre on 17 October 2024 for the first time in Singapore.
Originally written in 1998 by renowned Mongolian writer and poet, Lkhagvasuren Bavuu. It was revived in April 2022 at the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Drama. The Mongol Khan has all the ingredients of a classic tragedy: jealousy, mistaken identity, adultery, rivalry, sacrifice, succession, and a power struggle.

Secondly, the production will be performed by an ensemble of over 70 actors, dancers and musicians. It is brought to life with a haunting score, dance, and puppetry with elaborate sets. All were inspired by archaeological findings and nomadic traditions of the ancient Hun culture from the Hunnu Empire period.
Base Entertainment Asia presents with a collaboration between an international team of world-renowned artists and creatives including Tony-nominated playwright, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Olivier and Tony Award-winning Nick Barnes and the prolific historian and travel writer John Man, an expert in Mongolian history and culture. It is proudly produced by Bayra Bela and directed by Mongolian director, Hero Baatar.
