British singer Ed Sheeran was in town recently for his Mathematics Tour and brought various surprises on stage with him! Among others were Britain’s Got Talent show finalist, Calum Scott who warmed up the crowd with his amazing set.

Calum’s repertoire includes hits like Where Are You Now which he collaborated with Lost Frequencies. He surprised his fans by throwing in a few Xie Xie, Terima Kasih and Thank you in between his sets. Later on, fans sang their lungs out during his performance of You Are The Reason and his rendition of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own. Calum Scott charms fans with his ballads and I look forward to his world tour in the future when it comes!

Singapore was one of the Asian cities for Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour and it was held at the Singapore National Stadium. It was even a special affair for local fans as an extra intimate show at the Capitol Theatre was scheduled. It was also Ed Sheeran’s birthday.

Sheeran had a spectacular opening accompanied by pyrotechnics going off around the centre stage. I wish artists would adopt the stage layout of Ed Sheeran’s show, with the stage being in the centre of the stadium and thus, being visible from every angle with a rotating stage. What amazes me more about watching him live was the introduction of the Loop Station. He has used the device while performing his solo gigs since day one. Sheeran does have band members outside of the centre stage but only for a few songs that he does, mostly through his collaborative songs.

In a surprising twist, Ed Sheeran invited Singaporean singer JJ Lin to perform his popular hit, Twilight with Sheeran singing along in Mandarin. And Sheeran took only 10 minutes before the show to learn them, which can be seen on his social.
The highlight of the show was when Ed Sheeran sang Photograph. The presence in the stadium was pure uplifting with couples, friends and families hugging it out and later on Thinking out loud (pun intended) together with Sheeran. And to make it even sweeter, everyone took out their phone with their flashlight turned on to light up the whole stadium.
The concert at the National Stadium was amazing from start to finish. I would like to say thank you to both Ed Sheeran and Calum Scott for gracing our shores again with their amazing talent and positivity on stage!
