Everyone has a favorite band or artist that they looked up to. They will do anything for their favourites and might attend multiple shows just to show their support. For me, I travelled to Melbourne, Australia to watch my favourite American rock band, Paramore!
When Paramore announced their New Zealand and Australia tour, I knew I had to fly over. I chose Melbourne and went for all of their three shows.
Titled This is Why, the tour is in conjunction with their sixth album. This album comes after five years since their last album, After Laughter. The tour in Australia is significant for the band as it marks the end of their partnership with Atlantic Records.
Having watched Paramore for three days in Melbourne, I can conclude that they never lost their touch on putting an amazing live show. Their dynamic as a band is still intact and strong as ever. Despite taking a break for five years, you can still see their passion in making music.
The two hours set featured songs from their latest album and of course some hits. I wished they included C’est Comme Ça in their setlist then I pretty much get to experience the whole album live. But I am not complaining because I enjoyed my two hours. The two hours set felt like twenty minutes when you are having fun!
So what is my favourite moment from the three nights?
Hearing All I Wanted live! I have waited 14 years for this moment. The reason for the long wait was due to the fact that Hayley chose not to perform it as she was not confident that she could hit the high notes because of an incident in 2009. It felt like a miracle when I finally got to hear it live. When the guitar started strumming the introduction of the song, everyone around me started screaming including myself. I wished I could go back to that moment and experience it again.
I never regret my decision to fly across the country to watch Paramore for three nights! And I will do it all over again!
