Fish & Chips is no stranger to anyone but what if I told you there is an innovative twist in this classic British food?
Frying Fish Club offers just that! Instead of the ordinary dory fish found in many restaurants, the Frying Fish Club uses Shiro Maguro (White Tuna).

They had the classic Fish and Chips, but I decided to get something different that fits their theme of Japanese fusion. The Nori Fish & Chips was incredibly soft, tender, juicy and fried to perfection. The nori (seaweed) has been mixed into the batter beforehand. You can totally smell it from afar! The fish was crispy and it goes well with the recipe! They also served Spicy Fish & Chips which is cooked with some essence of mala.

Next, we had fish tacos with a shot of oysters as recommended. It was also prepared with Shiro Maguro, same as the fish & chips. The soft and flavourful texture of the fish complements the soft tacos, paired nicely with the purple cabbage on the side. The tacos had a pretty interesting texture and taste while the oysters were well garnished with fish roe and spring onions infused with yuzu juice. The way to enjoy the oysters is to imagine that you are taking a shot. The aftertaste has a slight tinge of citrusy taste to it. The oyster was creamy and somewhat sour and went well, as we washed them with the pressed cold beverages.

For sides, I had fried calamari. If you were to have these in any other restaurant, the calamari are usually served in slices or rings. At the Frying Fish Club, I had to munch on slices of crispy tentacles which were nicely fried and charred for that grilled taste. I did not share it since it was very delicious!
Other recommendations that were recommended by the co-founder, Timothy were Steak & Hummus and Pita & Hummus.
The restaurant is not just a space to enjoy mouth-watering foods but also for individuals to connect as they held small events in the past. As you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by painted walls that resemble fishes with LED screens with digital works by local artists from the community.
