Ready or Not, A1 Brings Us Back to the 90s

Being in the entertainment industry for 25 years is commendable. With technological advancement and online media taking over the world, some might not withstand these changes. Despite changes in the band over the years, A1 still standing strong!

Yesterday, the band showed us what they are made of at The Theatre at MediaCorp. Despite my fourth time watching the band live, everytime it brings a different experience. It felt like a catch-up session where the band updated us about their lives, shared stories and sang songs that they do not usually perform. Their personalities shined especially during the segment where each member sang songs from different bands. Imagine singing along to Backstreet Boys, Westlife, One Direction, Take That and NSYNC at an A1 concert!

Watching Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen, Mark Read and Ben Adams on stage brings you back to the 90s especially when their performances were accompanied by their official music videos. You will get to see how they glowed up and became men. Despite their age, they still got the moves and just like any boyband, synchronised moves! I surprised myself when my hands automatically followed their dance moves to Ready or Not.

A1 showed us that they do not need extravagant sets, dancers or costumes to make a good show. An intimate session with the fans, sing-along, chitchat, good humour and fans interaction are just enough. Basically, just be yourself and the audience will feel the authenticity. As they celebrated their 25th anniversary, the band released their new single, Call Me When You Land. Lucky fans in Singapore were treated to a live version.

I did not foresee myself tearing when I heard it but the lyrics were just too much for me to handle, “To hug them while you can.” This reminded me of my grandfather who left us a few months ago. The song is a good reminder to appreciate your loved ones while they are still here despite your busy schedule, do not forget to check in with them.

Congratulations A1 for finally making me cry at your concert. And biggest congratulations to the band for your 25th anniversary!

The Fifth Parlour would like to thank Midas Promotions for the invitation.
