A new Korean drama has just been released on Disney+ which will keep you off your seats! Based on a popular webtoon in 2015, of the same name, Moving is created by Kangfull who is also the screenplay writer. Together with Director Park Inje, Kangfull worked closely with him to translate his ideas better.
Some of the world most ordinary individuals will find themselves running for their lives after the government agencies discovered their hidden superpowers in Moving. Exclusively on Disney+, the drama is about of a group of superpowered individuals who hide their true abilities from the world in order to protect their families from harm and exploitation.
The high-budget drama took more than a year to complete from filming to post-production. Moving features a star-studded cast, including Ryu Seungryong, Han Hyojoo, Zo Insung, Cha Taehyun, Kim Sungkyun, Kim Hiewon, Lee Jungha, Go Youngjung & Kim Dohoon.

The drama spanned over 30 years as new characters expand its cinematic universe. Veteran actors, Ryu Seungryong (Jang Ju-Won), Han Hyojoo (Lee Mi-Hyun), Zo Insung (Kim Du-Sik) play undercover agents in the intelligence agency during the pre-war time Korea in the 1950s. The agents have special abilities of their own which they keep secret as they live normal lives in the future.
Newly established actors, Lee Jungha (Kim Bong-Seok), Go Youngjung (Jang Hui-Soo) and Kim Dohoon (Lee Gang-Hoon) play as students from the same high school. They looked ordinary but they have special abilities that they inherited from their parents. These students hide their special abilities while adapting to normal lives, while their parents struggle to protect them from being used by ruthless people.
Special mention to Cha Taehyun (Jeon Gye-Do) whose character was written for the drama. Kangfull explained during the press conference that he had fun portraying the character of an ordinary bus driver who has special abilities. To be immersed in this role, he even applied for a bus driver’s license.
Kangfull felt that it was necessary to showcase in-depth depiction of each character’s personality and include more background story hence he extended the drama to 20 episodes. I enjoyed binge-watching the drama as the build-up is consistent and the visual effects are great. It reminded me of the American sci-fi drama, Heroes which was aired in 2006. It is a unique take on superhero drama, as the characters fought for their loved ones; family, friend, lover or colleague rather than for the moral cause of saving the world. It encompassed a wide variety of genres, including family drama, action, sci-fi and romance.
