Bluey’s Big Play Debuts in Asia at the Sands Theatre!

The hit theatre show Bluey’s Big Play debuts for the first time ever in Asia at Singapore’s Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands this June holidays! It follows after the sell-out shows across Australia, the UK, Ireland and North America. I was earning brownie points by bringing my nephew along to the live theatre show!

If you are not familiar with the BAFTA & Emmy® award-winning children’s television series produced by Ludo Studio, here is a chance to redeem yourself with your little ones! The brand-new theatrical adaptation of the show features the Heeler family such as Bluey, a loveable Blue Heeler dog, who lives with Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighbourhood into her world of fun.

The story is written by creator Joe Brumm and its theatrical adaptation contains new music by Bluey television series composer, Joff Bush. Bluey’s Big Play is presented by BBC Studios and Andrew Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Company. Bluey’s Big Play in Singapore is supported by Base Entertainment Asia, Maybank, StarHub and SPH Media.

The Heeler family embark on their first live theatre show featuring brilliantly created puppets, and iconic sets. I felt amazed by the coordinated body movements of the performers as they were efficient and entertaining. The storyline was relatable as I felt that siblings no matter the age gap, should cherish the little moments they have together growing up. Parents should also pause from busy schedules and spend time with their little ones, a common trait that my parents never failed to do while I was growing up.

The fun part for the children was the interactive segment of the show when the cast had them copy their movements from the stage. Children were happily mimicking the dance moves while parents went along too. The show ended with a spectacle of pink balloons and a sea of bubbles while children reached out with full of curiosity and joy. It is definitely a great show for the whole family! It was incredible to have watched an entire cast of life-sized mascot puppets telling a story beautifully. The uniqueness is compared to those which are performed using ropes.
